Great ready for another great vinyl release!

For those well-versed in world of slushwave, Amaterasu (アマテラス) and Andromeda (アンドロメダ) by t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者 need little introduction. These albums, the first two-thirds of a trilogy that culminates with Antara Communication (ア ン タ ラ 通 信), have become iconic within the vaporwave subgenre, offering listeners a deep dive into soundscapes that are both expansive and deeply introspective.

Amaterasu opens the trilogy with a warm, almost radiant quality, aptly named after the Shinto
sun goddess. The album’s tracks weave together incredibly thick layers of swirling synths, keys,
and distant, reverb-drenched melodies with heavy drums that evoke a sense of the serene.
There’s an almost meditative pace to Amaterasu, inviting listeners to lose themselves in its
endlessly cascading phased mix. It’s a sonic representation of light filtering through clouds,
despite its dimly lit cover.

Andromeda pushes these ideas further into the realm of the unknown. While it maintains the
dense, “slush-y” textures, drums, and bass that define t e l e p a t h’s work, there’s a more
expansive feel here, as if the listener is lost in the hazy ocean that the cover depicts. The
album’s soundscapes are darker and more minimal, yet they retain that same analog warmth
that characterizes Amaterasu (and much of the rest of t e l e p a t h’s discography).
There really is a sense of vastness in Andromeda, a journey into the void that still feels oddly familiar,
making it an essential listen for fans of the genre (let the Bandcamp reviews speak for
themselves, many fans comment on this album being their introduction to t e l e p a t h and
sometimes even the slushwave/vaporwave scenes as a whole).
I recall that my first experience with the trilogy began with Andromeda, though I wasn’t aware of
it at the time. If you’re new to this series of albums or even to t e l e p a t h’s work as a whole, I
recommend starting in the intended order. Beginning with Amaterasu sets the stage beautifully
for the rest of the works.
Those already familiar know these albums have become touchstones in the vaporwave
community, celebrated for their ability to blend the genre’s characteristic nostalgia with an
innovative approach to ambient music and phasing soundscapes. As t e l e p a t h continues to
evolve, these works remain some of the finest examples of his slushwave roots, offering a
sound that is as mesmerizing as it is transformative.
For fans and collectors alike, Geometric Lullaby is set to release limited-edition vinyls of both
Amaterasu in a ghostly white and Andromeda in a sunset hazed pink on September 6. These
vinyl editions promise to capture the albums’ lush, textured soundscapes in all their analog
glory, making them a must-have for anyone looking to experience these works in their most authentic form.
